The BNP activists who came to Kakrail for the rally in the capital`s Naya Paltan exploded cocktails in front of the Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan`s house and threw bricks. Besides, they set fire to the Kakrail police box.
The violence was carried out on Saturday at noon.
According to eyewitnesses, the police chased when a clash between BNP leaders and Awami League activists started at Kakrail intersection. After that, Awami League activists entered the Chief Justice`s residence.
Awami League leaders and workers were going to Gulistan in a pickup from Moghbazar at around 1:15 pm. At the same time, BNP leaders and activists were already on the road at Kakrail intersection. At that time a clash broke out between Awami League and BNP and several cars were also vandalized.

However, the police are yet to confirm who was involved in the vandalism. The police said that one person has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the vandalism incident, but his name and identity are not known yet. He is reportedly being interrogated.
According to the doctor in charge of the police camp of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Md. Bachchu Mia said that two injured people from Kakrail and High Court area have come to the hospital. They are being treated in the emergency department.
